You know, I’ve always considered myself to be a pretty lucky person—so when I found out that the premiere of Tegan and Sara’s “Get Along” documentary was sold out in Austin, I was quite disheartened to say the least. But by some strange and incredible miracle, and after spending the weekend refreshing craigslist just short of a thousand times and having no luck at acquiring tickets, we decided around 5:00 p.m. to rush over to the drafthouse (through massive amounts of traffic and increasing levels of anxiety) to check and see if they had any tickets left at the door. By some enlightening shift in the universe, there were a few tickets left, and we were able to snag two for the 8:00 showing of the documentary and the following Q&A session with the Tegan and Sara themselves.
Though the Austin premieres are over, I can’t express enough how much I wish everyone would flock to the nearest city showing the documentary and watch it. It is truly an incredible film, and Tegan and Sara’s quirky answers to the audience’s outlandish (and sometimes flat out creepy) questions made the evening all the more amazing.
I can truly say that tonight was one of the best nights of my life, and I am happy to have been able to experience this close and intimate of a setting with the two extremely talented and influential individuals themselves. I’m on such a Tegan and Sara high, and will likely spend the rest of the evening blasting The Con as well as the rest of their albums as well.
Well, she summed it up just perfectly.
